Philadelphia, PA – Calm and dry weather across the Delaware Valley today will quickly give way to a new round of rain and snow by early Thursday, setting up potentially messy commutes to close out the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation moves in before sunrise Thursday, starting as light rain across much of the region. Cooler inland areas, especially north and west of Philadelphia, could see periods of snow mixing in during the early morning hours.

Urban areas including Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Camden will mainly deal with rain, but wet roads and reduced visibility could slow traffic along I-95, I-76, and Route 202. Farther north into the Lehigh Valley, brief snow could create slick spots on untreated surfaces.

Rain continues in waves through Friday, while area rivers gradually recede from earlier rainfall. However, small streams may see renewed rises, prompting caution in flood-prone locations.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time and stay alert for changing road conditions through Friday, with improving weather expected over the weekend.
