Corpus Christi, Texas – Heavy rain and thunderstorms could impact roads within the next few hours as another round of storms moves across the Coastal Bend early Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue through early morning, especially from Corpus Christi south toward Kingsville and Hebbronville. Rainfall totals near 1 inch are expected across most areas, with isolated pockets reaching up to 2 inches, raising the risk of water-covered roads and brief urban flooding.
Rain chances remain high at 75% Monday, with additional storms possible into Tuesday (70%) before gradually decreasing midweek. Cities including Alice, Beeville, Rockport, and Victoria could see repeated rounds of rain, particularly along U.S. 77 and I-37 corridors where ponding may develop during heavier downpours.
Temperatures will stay well below normal for April, with highs struggling to reach the upper 60s to low 70s Monday and Tuesday. Some inland areas near Laredo may remain in the low 60s, challenging daily cool records.
Drivers should slow down on wet roads, avoid flooded intersections, and allow extra time during the morning commute. Lightning and brief gusty winds may also accompany stronger storms.
Conditions begin improving by Wednesday as rain chances drop to 45%, followed by drier weather Thursday and Friday. Highs will rebound into the upper 80s and low 90s by late week.
Additional updates are expected as new rounds of storms develop across South Texas.
