Binghamton, New York – Snow showers could create slick spots on roads within hours late Sunday night into early Monday, especially across higher elevations and untreated surfaces.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a weak low-pressure system will move through the region overnight, bringing scattered light snow showers. Accumulations are expected to stay under 1 inch for most areas, but higher terrain near Cortland, Oneonta, and the Catskills could see localized coatings on grassy and elevated surfaces by daybreak Monday.

Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s overnight, with daytime highs Monday struggling to reach the mid-30s. Roads along I-81, I-88, and Route 17 may become briefly slick during heavier bursts of snow, particularly before 8 a.m. Monday when surface temperatures remain below freezing.

Cities including Syracuse, Ithaca, Elmira, and Scranton will see intermittent snow showers, though impacts should remain limited to reduced visibility and minor travel slowdowns. No major accumulation is expected on main roadways, but bridges and overpasses could ice first.

Drivers should reduce speeds during early morning travel, watch for black ice, and allow extra stopping distance. Residents are also urged to protect early-season plants as freezing temperatures persist.

Cold conditions continue Monday night with lows dropping back into the 20s before a gradual warm-up begins Tuesday. Additional updates will be issued if snowfall becomes more widespread or impactful.
