Aurora, Ill. — The City of Aurora shared today that applications are open to serve on the city’s new Public Transition Committees. The committees will help develop community-based recommendations for informing the work of City Departments. There will be five new committees made.
The Finance and Responsibility Committee will develop a 100-day goal and four-year budget and finance plan. The plan should prioritize creating new revenue streams for reducing t5ax burdens of Aurora residents.
The Sustainability and Development Committee will develop a climate plan that encourages residents to have energy-efficient homes and creates new venerable energy incentives. Additionally, the committee will be responsible for making a preservation plan for the city’s natural green spaces.
The Housing Committee will be responsible for accessibility and affordability for all Aurora residents. The committee will create a comprehensive plan that focuses on green initiatives for building. The committee will also make recommendations in support of the city’s unhoused community and emphasize the importance of home-ownership.
The Public Safety Committee will enhance community well-being with a public safety approach that helps crime prevention and encourages community involvement in public safety. The committee will do this through a plan of innovative methods.
Finally, the Supporting Youth and Education Committee will help develop new after-school programs and liberatory education initiatives for youth. The programs will help elevate opportunities for all students.
