Urbana, IL – Police are investigating a deadly stabbing on the 1300 block of Laurel Drive that left a 70-year-old man dead.
Officers responded Tuesday at 8:31 a.m. to a report of an injured man. They found him with apparent stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.
Illinois State Police assisted Urbana detectives in processing the crime scene. Investigators identified and arrested 45-year-old Sharon Moore of Urbana. She faces charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and outstanding warrants. Authorities transported her to the Champaign County Correctional Center.
The Champaign County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Officials have withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification.
Police continue canvassing the area for witnesses and video footage. They urge residents with surveillance cameras to check their footage.
