Billings, MT – Montana residents should prepare for a snowy and bitterly cold Sunday, with temperatures staying below freezing and snow accumulation forecasted along I-90. Travelers are urged to plan ahead, as slick roads and low visibility may affect major routes, especially near Billings and the surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, light snow is expected to develop late Saturday night and persist through Sunday morning. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are likely in lower elevations, with up to 6 to 8 inches possible in the mountains, including areas near Red Lodge. Highs on Sunday will struggle to reach 28°F, marking the coldest day of the season so far.

Drivers along I-90 and secondary routes should allow extra time and exercise caution, especially during the early morning hours. Reduced visibility and icy patches may create hazardous travel conditions. Officials recommend packing an emergency kit and avoiding unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring slightly warmer conditions, with highs near 34°F under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will remain chilly through the week, with a slight chance of snow returning by Wednesday. Thanksgiving travelers should monitor forecasts closely, as conditions could shift.
