Muncie, IN – A routine traffic stop in Muncie early Friday morning led to the arrest of a man allegedly identified as a habitual traffic violator with multiple outstanding warrants.
According to the Indiana State Police Pendleton District, the stop occurred around 7:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 35 and Memorial Drive. Master Trooper Ryan Davis reportedly initiated the stop after observing an equipment violation on a blue Nissan Murano.
Police said the driver was identified as Michael J. Love, a 62-year-old Indianapolis man. During the investigation, authorities allegedly discovered that Love had been previously designated as a Habitual Traffic Violator (HTV), which prohibits individuals from legally operating a motor vehicle.
Further checks revealed Love allegedly had active warrants issued out of both Henry and Hancock counties. Troopers said the situation remained calm, and Love was taken into custody without incident at the scene.
He was transported to the Delaware County Jail, where he was held on the outstanding warrants in addition to a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while allegedly being a habitual traffic violator.
Cases involving habitual traffic violators can carry significant legal consequences in Indiana, as the designation is typically applied to individuals with repeated serious driving offenses.
All charges against Love are allegations at this stage. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
