Grand Forks, North Dakota – Patchy fog is reducing visibility early this morning across eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, creating immediate travel concerns before winds increase later today.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, fog will linger through the early morning hours before clearing north to south, with south winds strengthening to 10 to 20 mph by this afternoon. High temperatures will range widely, from the low 40s near the Canadian border to the low 60s across the southern Red River Valley.
Cities including Grand Forks, Fargo, and Devils Lake will see improving visibility by mid to late morning, but drivers should remain cautious on rural highways where fog may persist longer. This afternoon’s gusty winds could impact high-profile vehicles along I-29 and U.S. Highway 2.
Conditions stay partly cloudy into Friday, with another chance for patchy fog overnight. Attention then shifts to Saturday, when a cold front will bring a chance of light rain and snow across the region.
Temperatures drop sharply by Sunday, with highs falling into the upper 20s north and near 40 degrees south. Additional updates are expected as the weekend system approaches.
