Isabella, Minn. – Snow will begin stacking up across Minnesota’s Arrowhead after midnight, setting up a slick Tuesday morning commute from the Boundary Waters to the North Shore.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect at midnight and continues until 3 p.m. Tuesday for Northern Cook and Lake counties, including Isabella and the eastern and central Boundary Waters. Snow totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with periods of heavier snowfall at times.

Southern Lake County, including Silver Bay and Two Harbors, is also under an advisory for 2 to 4 inches through Tuesday afternoon. While snowfall rates may briefly intensify, forecasters note the snow will be less dense than last week’s system.

Highways such as Minnesota Highway 61 along the North Shore and Highway 1 near Isabella could become snow-covered before daybreak Tuesday. Reduced traction and patchy visibility may slow travel during the morning commute.

Drivers are urged to slow down and check 511mn.org for updated road conditions. Snow will taper Tuesday afternoon, but slick spots may linger into the evening as temperatures remain cold.
