Corpus Christi, TX – A steady warming trend is expected across South Texas and the Corpus Christi metro this week, with temperatures climbing from the mid-80s into the upper 90s by the weekend, bringing early summer-like heat to the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies will dominate through Sunday, May 18, with little chance of rainfall. High temperatures are forecast to rise from around 84 degrees on Wednesday, May 13, to as high as 98 degrees by Friday, May 15, and continuing through the weekend.
Overnight lows will also trend warmer, increasing from the mid-60s into the upper 70s by late week, offering limited relief from the daytime heat.
Along the Gulf Coast, including Nueces County and surrounding beach areas, conditions remain generally calm but require caution. A low risk of rip currents is in place Tuesday, May 12, though officials emphasize that “low risk” does not mean no danger. Swimmers are advised to stay aware of changing water conditions, especially near piers and jetties.
Beachgoers can expect water temperatures near 80 degrees, light northeast winds around 10 mph, and wave heights near 2 feet. However, the UV index is expected to remain high, increasing the risk of sunburn during prolonged outdoor exposure.
With heat building and humidity increasing across the Coastal Bend, residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable individuals.
