Clarkston, WA – A high wind warning has been issued for parts of southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon, with strong and potentially damaging winds expected throughout the day Wednesday, May 13.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Spokane and Pendleton, the warning will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, impacting areas including Clarkston, Pomeroy, Anatone, and the Blue Mountains foothills across both states.

Forecasters say sustained winds of 25 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts reaching between 45 and 65 mph. The strongest gusts are likely at elevations above 2,000 feet, though lower elevations—including the Clarkston area—could still see gusts exceeding 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, these winds may bring down trees and power lines, increasing the risk of power outages across the region. Travel may also become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways.

The impacted area spans Asotin and Garfield counties in Washington and extends into the foothills of the Blue Mountains in Oregon, including communities like Pendleton, Heppner, and Goldendale.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects, avoid parking near trees, and use caution when traveling. Officials also recommend staying indoors during peak wind periods and avoiding windows due to the risk of flying debris.

Drivers and residents should monitor local forecasts for updates as conditions develop heading into Wednesday.
