Cincinnati, Ohio – Temperatures across the Ohio Valley are set to fall into the 30s within the next 48 hours, creating a risk of frost that could impact early morning travel and damage vegetation by Saturday night into Sunday morning. Drivers along I-71, I-75, and I-70 should prepare for possible slick spots on bridges and overpasses during pre-dawn hours, especially where temperatures dip near 32°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will remain below seasonal norms through the weekend, with overnight lows Friday and Saturday nights dropping into the low to mid-30s. The agency highlights Saturday night as the greatest concern for frost development, particularly across inland and rural areas of southwest and central Ohio.

Cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Springfield are expected to see nighttime lows between 32°F and 36°F, while daytime highs remain limited to the mid-50s to low 60s through Sunday. These conditions could impact sensitive crops and backyard gardens, especially in low-lying areas where colder air settles.

Residents should cover or bring in plants, protect outdoor plumbing, and allow extra travel time during early morning hours. Commuters should stay alert for patchy frost on elevated road surfaces before 9 a.m.

A gradual warmup begins Monday, with highs climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s, though increasing rain chances may follow. Additional advisories could be issued if temperatures trend colder overnight.
