Orland Park, IL – Visitors to the Orland Park Public Library will face temporary parking and book return disruptions over Memorial Day weekend as maintenance crews complete a sealcoating and restriping project at the library parking lot.

According to the Village of Orland Park and the Orland Park Public Library, the entire parking lot will close beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and remain closed throughout Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25.

Library officials said the closures are necessary for routine maintenance designed to improve safety and preserve the condition of the parking area. Depending on weather conditions, portions of the lot could remain temporarily unavailable when the library reopens Tuesday, May 26.

During the closure period, all drive-up access to the library’s material return book drops will also be unavailable. Officials noted that due dates for physical library materials will automatically be extended and no fines will be issued because of the temporary closure.

The Orland Park Public Library serves residents across the southwest suburbs of Cook County and is located near the center of Orland Park’s civic district.

Village officials are encouraging residents to plan ahead if they intend to visit the library during the holiday weekend and to avoid entering blocked parking areas while maintenance work is underway.

Additional updates regarding reopening status or weather-related delays are expected to be posted through official Village of Orland Park and Orland Park Public Library communication channels.
