Columbus, OH – Central Ohio is expected to see a wet start to the week before a major warmup pushes temperatures close to 90 degrees across the Columbus metro area and surrounding communities.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are likely Wednesday morning and afternoon across Franklin County and much of central Ohio. Gusty southwest winds could reach up to 29 mph as periods of rain move through the region. High temperatures are expected to reach near 69 degrees.

Forecasters say rainfall totals should remain relatively light overall, though isolated heavier showers are possible during the day. Conditions begin improving Wednesday night as skies gradually clear and cooler air settles into the region. Overnight lows are forecast to dip to around 45 degrees.

Thursday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs near 64 degrees, followed by a warming trend Friday as temperatures rebound into the lower 70s under partly sunny skies.

By the weekend, summerlike warmth returns across Ohio. Saturday is forecast to reach near 87 degrees with scattered thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Sunday will remain warm and humid with highs approaching 88 degrees and additional chances for showers and thunderstorms.

The heat intensifies even further early next week, with Monday forecast near 93 degrees and Tuesday staying close to 90 degrees alongside increasing rain chances.
