Cheyenne, WY – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Sierra Madre Range and Snowy Range, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from 5 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne, the storm could bring 7 to 14 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Blowing snow may reduce visibility to less than 1/4 mile, making travel very difficult or impossible in affected areas, including Albany and Centennial.
Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for hazardous conditions. Those venturing into the mountains should carry an emergency kit, including extra food, water, and warm clothing.
The NWS urges residents to monitor forecasts for updates and be prepared for deteriorating road conditions. If travel is necessary, use extreme caution and allow extra time.
