La Crosse, WI – Dangerously low temperatures and light snow are expected to persist across Wisconsin through Wednesday, with extreme cold warnings in effect until noon Tuesday. Residents are advised to bundle up and limit outdoor activities as wind chills could drop as low as -45°F overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, a bitterly cold Tuesday morning will lead to highs only reaching 7°F. A 50% chance of snow Tuesday night will bring up to half an inch of accumulation by Wednesday morning, with low temperatures hovering around 3°F. This frigid weather poses risks of frostbite and hypothermia within minutes if skin is exposed.

Wednesday will see slightly warmer conditions, with highs climbing to 26°F and mostly cloudy skies. However, wind chill values may still make it feel much colder. The rest of the week will bring a gradual warm-up, with highs reaching the upper 20s by Saturday.

Emergency preparedness officials urge residents to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and check on vulnerable neighbors or family members. To prevent pipes from freezing, allow faucets to drip and keep pets indoors whenever possible.

Motorists traveling along I-90 or US-53 should exercise caution, as icy conditions could develop overnight with light snow accumulation. Commuters should plan for potential delays and slippery roads during Wednesday morning’s drive.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates on changing conditions. As the week progresses, temperatures will edge closer to seasonal averages, with sunshine returning by Friday.
