Davenport, IA – Cleanup and damage assessments are underway across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois after powerful storms Friday evening produced wind gusts exceeding 70 mph, large hail, and multiple tornado reports.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the storms knocked down trees and power lines across a wide area, with the most significant damage reported near Lena, Illinois; Colmar, Illinois; and Washington, Iowa. Several homes and outbuildings sustained structural damage, and debris continues to impact local roads.

Emergency crews are focusing on key corridors including Highway 20, where flash flooding was also reported during the height of the storms. Downed lines and blocked roadways may still affect travel, especially in rural Stephenson, McDonough, and Washington counties.

The National Weather Service has deployed survey teams to confirm tornado activity and assess storm intensity. These surveys will determine whether tornadoes touched down and help classify their strength.

Residents are urged to avoid damaged areas, report outages to local utilities, and use caution around debris and unstable structures.

Additional updates are expected through the weekend as storm surveys continue and more damage reports are verified.
