Winnipeg, MB – Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the February 3 stabbing death of Charles Danny Chartrand, 43. Chartrand was found critically injured at a residence on Fountain Street and later died from his injuries. The case was ruled a homicide.

According to Winnipeg Police, the Homicide Unit asked for the public’s help in identifying two persons of interest. Both were identified, aiding the investigation.

Authorities charged 21-year-old Rory Alexander Mousseau with second-degree murder on September 10. Police say Mousseau was already in custody on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest.

Investigators determined that Chartrand and Mousseau were familiar with each other. An altercation between the two occurred inside their apartment building, which led to Chartrand’s fatal stabbing.

Police thanked the public for their assistance in the case. Mousseau remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
