Wilmington Teen Pinned in Route 129 Crash, Four Injured in Grundy County

Braceville, IL — A 16-year-old Wilmington male juvenile was cited after a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday night on Route 129 and Huston Road. The crash injured three other juveniles in unincorporated Braceville, Grundy County deputies report.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:34 p.m. The 2014 Audi passenger car failed to negotiate a curve, striking a tree before rolling over into a field. The vehicle was occupied by three other juveniles, including a 15-year-old female, a 15-year-old male, and another 16-year-old male. One of the juveniles was found pinned underneath the vehicle upon arrival.

The Braceville Fire Department, assisted by Gardner, Braidwood, Coal City, and Mazon Fire Departments, responded to the scene. Two of the injured passengers were transported to Morris Hospital, with one later transferred to Loyola Medical Center due to severe injuries.

The 16-year-old driver received citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and a Graduated Driver’s Licensing Law violation. Speed was identified as the primary cause of the accident.
