Lexington, NC – Two men remain wanted and a woman has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged motor vehicle theft and felony conspiracy in Davidson County, authorities said.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the Traffic and Criminal Enforcement Team began investigating Aug. 10 after a motor vehicle was reported stolen from the Rhodes Road area of Lexington.
The investigation was conducted with assistance from the Lexington Police Department. Authorities said investigators identified three people allegedly connected to the theft: James Edward Terry, 39, of Linwood; Dante Emmanuel Dalton, 30, of Lexington; and Correnia Jetta Profitt, 41, of Lexington.
Profitt was arrested Aug. 17 and charged with felony conspiracy, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said she was issued no bond because she was on pretrial release in an unrelated case. She was scheduled to appear in Davidson County Court in August.
Investigators subsequently obtained warrants for Terry, charging him with felony conspiracy and felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Dalton was charged with felony conspiracy and felony larceny of a motor vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
As of the latest release, Terry and Dalton remained wanted. Detectives said they were continuing to pursue investigative leads while working to locate and apprehend both men.
The sheriff’s office noted that judicial officials, not law enforcement officers, determine release conditions in North Carolina criminal proceedings.
All charges are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
