Will County, IL – Residents in the Chicago area are advised to gear up for winter weather conditions as the National Weather Service anticipates snow and sharp wind chills by Friday.

A swiftly approaching system is expected to deliver a mixture of rain and snow tonight, with a possibility of slushy accumulations near the Illinois-Wisconsin border come Thursday morning. A subsequent cold front is set to bring in colder temperatures, making way for light snow with a 30-50% chance of occurrence, mainly targeting areas south of Interstate 80.

The weather shift doesn’t end there; the region is also set to experience bitter wind chills ranging from just 5 to 15 degrees above zero. These conditions are likely to affect the Friday commute, potentially impacting road safety and visibility. Officials urge the public to prepare for the significant drop in temperatures, and to keep abreast of travel advisories. With the weekend ahead, residents should plan for a chilly Valentine’s Day and consider safety precautions while enjoying outdoor activities.
