South Bend, IN – A tragic car crash on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County has resulted in the death of a South Bend woman and left another injured.
The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Wilheim Road. According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, a 2008 Chevrolet passenger vehicle, heading westbound, inexplicably veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, a 40-year-old woman from South Bend, sustained upper body injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, her passenger, 23-year-old Kendra Murphy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the factors contributing to the crash. This incident serves as a somber reminder of road safety and the unpredictable nature of traffic accidents.
