Western Michigan Weather Alert Today: 26° Foggy Start in Grand Rapids, 80% Rain by Thursday

Michigan is starting the day with a sharp bite in the air as fog hangs low over Grand Rapids and temperatures sit at 26 degrees. A light northeast breeze pushes wind chills down near 20, and drivers along US-131 and I-196 are navigating pockets of mist during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, sunshine returns later today with highs climbing to 55 degrees. Calm winds become southeast around 5 mph this afternoon. The dry stretch will not last long.

Clouds increase tonight with a 20 percent chance of showers after sunset and lows dipping to 38. Thursday turns wet, with showers likely and highs near 47. Rain chances rise to 80 percent, and gusts could reach 20 mph at times.

Friday brings a stronger push of spring warmth. Highs surge to 66 degrees with showers possible throughout the day. Rain becomes likely Friday night, with precipitation chances near 90 percent and lows around 51.

Saturday keeps scattered showers in play before cooler air filters in Saturday night. Lows fall into the mid-30s. With daytime melting and evening cooling, this is the time of year when brief slick spots can develop on bridges if moisture lingers.

Sunday turns mostly sunny with highs near 54. Then comes a dramatic warm-up. Monday jumps to the mid-80s under sunny skies, signaling early spring heat across West Michigan. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures.
