Paducah, KY – Residents in western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri are advised to prepare for dangerous heat this week as temperatures soar. A heat advisory is in effect today from 1 PM to 8 PM, with heat index values expected to reach between 100 to 115 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, the heat and humidity will build across the region starting today and continue throughout the week. Highs in the 90s combined with high humidity will create oppressive conditions, particularly in southeast Missouri, extreme southwest Illinois, and extreme western Kentucky. Scattered thunderstorms may offer some relief, but their timing and coverage are uncertain.
Temperatures are forecasted to hit 94-98 degrees from Tuesday to Thursday, with isolated thunderstorms expected primarily in southwest Indiana and the Pennyrile region. On Friday, temperatures will range from 91-96 degrees, with scattered storms likely east of the Mississippi River. Nighttime lows will remain warm, ranging from 72-78 degrees, providing little respite from the heat.
