Paducah, KY – The remnants of Tropical Storm Francine are forecasted to bring heavy rain and possible flash flooding to the Quad State region later this week. Starting Thursday, areas of southeast Missouri and western Kentucky will likely experience the greatest rainfall.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Paducah, the storm could produce between 2 to 4 inches of rain in some areas. Locations such as Paducah, Hopkinsville, and Cape Girardeau are in the projected path of the heaviest showers. Rain is expected to continue into Friday, potentially causing dangerous conditions on major routes like I-24.
The NWS warns that flash flooding is a major concern for lower-lying regions. The storm is expected to weaken as it moves north, but heavy rainfall will still pose a threat. Drivers should exercise caution as roads may flood quickly.
Weather conditions will remain unsettled through the weekend, with scattered showers possible. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as the storm progresses and prepare for potential flooding Thursday into Friday.
