Alabama Braces for Tornadoes and Flooding as Tropical Storm Francine Approaches

Mobile, AL – Tropical Storm Francine is expected to intensify into a hurricane and make landfall along the northwest Gulf Coast by Wednesday afternoon. The storm threatens Alabama’s coastal areas with dangerous conditions, including increased tornado potential and severe flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, the greatest tornado threat will occur from Wednesday night into Thursday, particularly near the coast. Minor to moderate beach erosion, along with flooding from 1 to 3 feet of storm surge, is expected. Heavy rainfall is forecasted, especially in southern Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle, with localized areas potentially receiving over 6 inches.
