Lewisburg, WV – A significant ice storm is expected to impact Greenbrier County starting Wednesday morning, bringing hazardous travel conditions and the potential for widespread power outages.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, an Ice Storm Warning is in effect from 9 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday for Eastern and Western Greenbrier Counties. Forecasters predict ice accumulations of up to three-tenths of an inch and snow accumulations of up to half an inch.

Officials warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick, and ice-laden tree limbs and power lines could cause outages. Residents are urged to avoid travel and prepare for possible power disruptions. Those who must travel should carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight.
