Wheaton, IL – A DuPage County judge granted the state’s motion to detain Ryan Devine, a West Chicago man accused of leaving the scene of a fatal crash near the DuPage County Government Complex. The collision, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, killed an 85-year-old Winfield resident.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Devine, 43, was allegedly driving 82 mph in a 35-mph zone and ran a red light, striking a Honda CRV attempting a left turn. Authorities report that Devine fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly after. He now faces multiple charges, including reckless homicide and obstruction of justice.

Devine is scheduled for arraignment on December 2 in front of Judge Brian Telander.
