Oregon State Police Seek Witnesses After Fatal Crash on I-5 Near Albany

Albany, OR – Oregon State Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a fatal crash on Interstate 5 early Friday near Albany.

Troopers responded around 2:22 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck on the southbound lanes near milepost 223. According to police, the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. Additional reports indicated a vehicle had struck a cable barrier in the northbound lanes, likely linked to the pedestrian.

Investigators believe the driver and vehicle involved in the fatal collision fled the scene. Both the driver and vehicle remain unidentified. Police urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw anything unusual in the area to contact the authorities.
