Enetai, WA — A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck just east of Enetai on Sunday, shaking the local community. The tremor occurred at a depth of 27 kilometers. Residents across the area are encouraged to report any shaking they felt.
According to data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake hit at 7:49 a.m. PDT. While small, this type of earthquake can still be felt by those near the epicenter. Many residents in nearby towns, including Seattle and Bremerton, may have noticed the minor tremor.
Officials urge those who felt the earthquake to report their experience on the USGS “Did You Feel It?” webpage. These reports help scientists better understand local seismic activity. As of Sunday afternoon, the USGS had received 144 responses from residents.
Although no damages have been reported, even small earthquakes can raise awareness of potential future seismic activity. Emergency preparedness remains critical for the Pacific Northwest, where larger earthquakes are a known risk.
