Denver, CO – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for northern Colorado on Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns of dangerous conditions between noon and 7 p.m. for the northern mountain valleys.

According to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, the affected areas will see wind gusts between 25-30 mph. The winds will combine with low relative humidity, ranging from 12-15%. These factors create an increased risk of wildfires spreading quickly if ignited.

Residents and visitors are advised to avoid outdoor activities that could create sparks, such as campfires or using machinery that produces heat. Winds coming from the west could also increase the chance of fires spreading rapidly.

The watch covers areas including Estes Park, Walden, and parts of northern mountain regions. Precautions are highly recommended for those in or near the affected zones.

Fire Weather Watches are issued when weather conditions make fires more likely, but no fires have yet started. The watch may escalate to a warning if conditions worsen or if fires ignite.
