Seattle, WA – A freeze watch remains in effect through Thursday morning for much of the Puget Sound region, with temperatures expected to plunge to as low as 30°F tonight. Residents are urged to protect vulnerable plants and outdoor plumbing from the harsh cold.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze watch includes areas such as the Hood Canal, East Puget Sound Lowlands, and the Lower Chehalis Valley. The cold front is forecast to persist, impacting cities like Olympia, Monroe, and Tumwater through Thursday morning. Frost formation overnight could damage crops and landscaping, so immediate precautions are essential.

The cold weather will also affect driving conditions. Early morning frost could create slick roadways, particularly in rural and low-lying regions. Drivers along major routes, including State Route 3 and U.S. Route 101, should take extra caution and allow additional time for their commutes.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain cold, with daytime highs only reaching the mid-40s on Thursday. Warmer conditions are expected by the weekend, with temperatures rising into the 50s, though overnight lows may still hover near freezing.
