White Plains, New York – Two traffic stops this week led to major narcotics arrests along Interstate 87 and the Hutchinson River Parkway, removing more than five pounds of illegal drugs from New York roadways.

According to New York State Police, the first arrest occurred Tuesday morning around 11:50 a.m. in the Town of Newburgh. Members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 87 for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Police identified the driver and sole occupant as Katrina A. Haeger, 38, of Whitehall, New York. A K-9 unit conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for narcotics, according to State Police.

A subsequent search allegedly revealed more than two pounds of cocaine concealed inside the vehicle. Troopers also reportedly recovered approximately two grams of fentanyl and 4.4 grams of heroin during a search of Haeger.

Haeger was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, an A-I felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, intent to sell, a Class B felony; and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. She was arraigned in the Village of Goshen Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.

A second arrest occurred Thursday at approximately 1:53 p.m. in the City of White Plains. Troop K officers, working with the New York State Police Special Investigation Unit, stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

Following a K-9 alert, troopers allegedly discovered an electronically operated hidden compartment containing multiple packages of fentanyl weighing more than 1,500 grams. The sole occupant was arrested and charged with first- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The individual was arraigned in Greenburgh Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.

The arrests may affect commuters and parkway travelers during peak weekday traffic hours.
