Swanton, VT – A 26-year-old man from St. Albans died early Saturday morning following a single-vehicle crash on Highgate Road. Emergency responders found the driver dead at the scene.
The Vermont State Police responded at 2:28 a.m. after an Apple Crash Detection alert. The Subaru Forester had veered off the road and crashed into trees near Bushey Road. According to police, Missisquoi Valley Rescue and the Swanton Fire Department also responded.
The crash left the vehicle totaled, and the operator, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash. The Vermont State Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward by contacting their St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
