Indianapolis, IN – A man riding a scooter was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash on Indianapolis’ east side.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were called to the 6100 block of East 34th Street just before 4 a.m. They found an adult male lying in the grass near the road. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Witnesses said the man was heading eastbound on his scooter when a black sedan crossed the center line and struck him. The driver, a man, allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly detained him and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.
The driver was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw, a standard procedure in deadly crashes. IMPD continues to investigate the incident.
