Sutton, N.H. – A Vermont man faces charges after crashing into a New Hampshire State Police cruiser Thursday on I-89.
Authorities say Daniel Poroj, 22, of Shelburne, Vermont, lost control of his Honda Accord while speeding on snow-covered roads. The crash occurred at 10:11 a.m. as a trooper assisted a stranded driver near Sutton. The cruiser, parked with emergency lights activated, was struck in the right breakdown lane.
The impact sent the Accord sliding into a fire chief’s pickup truck. Both Poroj and the trooper were treated for minor injuries at New London Hospital.
Poroj was charged with multiple violations, including negligent driving, unregistered vehicle, and failing to follow New Hampshire’s Move Over law. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 18, 2025.
State Police warn drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles. Fines start at $75 for first-time offenders.
Stay safe this winter by reducing speed in hazardous conditions.
