Salt Lake City, UT – Northern Utah remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 3 p.m. Saturday, as snowfall persists across the Wasatch and Western Uinta Mountains.
The Wasatch Mountains, including popular routes such as Sardine Canyon and Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, are expected to receive up to two inches of additional snow. The Western Uinta Mountains, including Mirror Lake Highway, could see up to one inch of new snow, adding to already challenging driving conditions.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation, winter driving conditions are prevalent, and motorists are advised to use caution. Slippery roads and reduced visibility are expected, particularly in higher elevations. Travelers should check road conditions at udottraffic.utah.gov before heading out.
The National Weather Service has emphasized that while snow accumulation may not be significant, hazardous travel is likely due to icy roadways. Those commuting through canyons or mountainous areas should plan for delays and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
With conditions expected to improve after 3 p.m., travelers should remain vigilant until the advisory expires.
