Pocatello, ID – Southeastern Idaho continues to face snow and strong winds as a Winter Weather Advisory remains active until 8 a.m. Saturday.
The Bear River Range and Marsh Highlands, including areas like Emigration Pass, Downey, and Lava Hot Springs, are expected to receive up to two inches of additional snow. The Raft River Region and Southern Hills, including towns such as Albion and Malta, are experiencing similar accumulations, compounded by winds gusting up to 45 mph.
According to the Idaho Department of Transportation, roadways across these regions are slippery, particularly over mountain passes. Travelers are advised to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and check conditions by calling 511 or visiting the ITD website.
The National Weather Service warns that visibility may be reduced in some areas, and blowing snow could create hazardous conditions. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and avoid unnecessary trips through affected areas.
The advisory is set to expire at 8 a.m., but lingering impacts may persist as winds gradually diminish. Residents are reminded to keep emergency kits on hand and monitor updates for changing conditions.
