Kansas City, MO – Over 11,000 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas tree ornaments featuring the Star Wars character Cad Bane have been recalled due to mold risks.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday that the brown paint on the ornaments didn’t fully dry before packaging. This caused mold to grow on the surface, posing potential respiratory issues for consumers. The recall involves ornaments sold from September through October 2024 for $22 each.
According to the recall notice, the ornaments measure about 4.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. They feature Cad Bane in a brown jacket and hat with blue cuffs. Mold was discovered in 16 consumer reports, but no injuries have been linked to the issue.
Consumers should stop using the ornaments immediately and return them to Hallmark Gold Crown stores. Full refunds, including prepaid shipping labels, are available through Hallmark’s website.
The ornaments were manufactured in Sri Lanka and sold nationwide. Customers are advised to check the product code 2199QXE3341 printed on the box’s bottom for verification.
Hallmark emphasizes its commitment to consumer safety and urges buyers to act promptly to avoid potential health risks.
