Tehama County, CA – A flash flood warning remains active for parts of Tehama and Butte counties impacted by the Park Fire burn scar. Officials warn that intense rainfall could trigger debris flows, consisting of rock, mud, and loose vegetation, across vulnerable areas until 10 p.m. tonight.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento announced the advisory Thursday, urging residents near Paynes Creek, Mill Creek, Deer Creek, Pine Creek, and Rock Creek in Tehama County to take precautions. Butte County regions downstream of the burn scar, including Rock Creek, Mud Creek, and Big Chico Creek, are also at risk.
Heavy rainfall, expected to reach up to two inches within an hour, may rapidly swell local creeks and rivers, increasing flood hazards. Authorities advise those in affected zones to move to higher ground immediately if they observe rising water levels.
The NWS cautions that conditions can change swiftly and urges residents to monitor updates. Evacuation orders may be issued if necessary. Those in flood-prone areas should stay alert and heed instructions from local authorities.
