Urbana Teen Accused of Possessing 500 Grams of Cannabis Edibles on School Grounds Thursday

Urbana, IL – A 14-year-old boy from Urbana was arrested Wednesday for allegedly bringing and distributing cannabis-infused edibles on Urbana School District property, according to police.

According to the Urbana Police Department, the arrest took place on April 17 after a student sought medical attention and was later found to have consumed cannabis edibles. Urbana Police School Resource Officers, working alongside school district officials, initiated an immediate investigation. The juvenile suspect was identified and taken into custody, allegedly in possession of more than 500 grams of cannabis products intended for distribution.

Police said the teen was transported to the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center, where he awaits court proceedings.

Urbana authorities emphasized their commitment to student safety and expressed gratitude to the Urbana School District for its cooperation during the investigation.
