South Strabane Township, PA – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that could help solve the 2000 killing of a 24-year-old man in what authorities describe as a road rage incident along Interstate 70 in Washington County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred on January 7, 2000, when Anthony Steven Wargo was fatally shot in the head while riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70. The car was being driven by John Thomas Swoger as the two men passed through South Strabane Township near the 84 Truckstop.

Investigators initially pursued multiple leads in the case, but after years of inquiries and based on statements from Swoger, authorities now believe the shooting stemmed from a road rage altercation. The investigation remains active, and police hope the reward will encourage new witnesses to come forward.

Wargo, a white male from Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. No suspects have been identified publicly, and the Pennsylvania State Police say they are determined to bring closure to Wargo’s family.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the PSP Washington Station at 724-223-5200 or submit a tip to PSP Tips at 1-800-472-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest or helps solve the case.
