Pendleton, OR — A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Washington and Oregon as heavy snow and icy conditions are expected to impact the region through Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, the heaviest snowfall will affect the Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, where 6 to 12 inches of snow is forecast between 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday. Areas near Easton and Roslyn are expected to see significant accumulation, with hazardous travel conditions due to low visibility.
In the Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington, snowfall is ongoing, with an additional 1 to 3 inches expected by 10 p.m. Friday. Cities including Ukiah, Meacham, and Long Creek will experience slippery roads.
Further south, the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades will see 5 to 10 inches of snow above 4,000 feet, along with light freezing rain from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday. Freezing rain may also impact sheltered valleys, creating slick conditions near Sunriver, La Pine, and Sisters.
For travelers near Cliffdell, Cle Elum, and Appleton, WA, 2 to 6 inches of snow and light freezing rain are expected from Saturday afternoon through early Monday morning.
