Trail County, ND โ€“ A 36-year-old Portland man suffered serious injuries Sunday evening following a motorcycle crash northeast of Portland in Trail County, part of the Fargo metro area.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, along the 600 block of 149th Avenue Northeast. Authorities said the rider was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway and overturn.

Officials reported the crash involved a 2008 Harley-Davidson FLU motorcycle. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. Emergency crews from Mayville Ambulance transported him to Sanford Mayville Medical Center before he was airlifted by Sanford AirMed to Fargo for further treatment.

According to investigators, road and weather conditions were normal and dry at the time of the incident, suggesting environmental factors did not contribute to the crash.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol stated the driver is allegedly facing a charge of driving under the influence. The crash remains under active investigation, with assistance from the Trail County Sheriffโ€™s Office and local emergency responders.

Authorities have not released additional details as of Monday.
