Texas starts the morning under thick gray clouds, with damp pavement already spreading across Dallas. Light rain is falling in spots, and conditions are steadily worsening as deeper moisture pushes in.
According to the National Weather Service, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and Plano will see widespread showers through the day, with rain chances climbing to 80% by late morning. The peak impact window runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., when steady rain may produce quick water buildup on roads, especially along I-35E, I-30, and Loop 12.
This is part of a broader system anchored over Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley, pulling in Gulf moisture and producing repeated rounds of rain. That setup supports localized flooding, particularly in low-lying streets, underpasses, and poor drainage areas where runoff can develop within minutes.
Rainfall totals may reach between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch, enough to create slick roads and reduced visibility during the midday commute. Drivers may encounter sudden slowdowns, especially in urban corridors where traffic volume is high.
Showers gradually taper later today, with improving conditions by evening as the system begins shifting east. Skies clear into Saturday, bringing sunshine and a sharp warm-up with highs near 74°F.
Sunday continues the rebound with sunshine and highs near 79°F, followed by a warmer trend into the low 80s Monday. By Tuesday, temperatures could push near 90°F, signaling a fast transition toward early summer heat across North Texas.
Avoid water-covered roads, expect slower travel through mid-afternoon, and allow extra time on major highways as steady rain impacts the Dallas area.
