San Antonio, Texas – Extreme heat grips Texas on Monday as San Antonio braces for a blistering 98° high, with a heat index nearing 105°. Temperatures could feel as hot as 106° in shaded areas, prompting a summer weather alert for residents commuting along I-35 and Loop 410.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will stay mostly cloudy until skies begin clearing by afternoon. South-southeast winds up to 15 mph will offer minimal relief. Tuesday brings a 20% chance of isolated showers after 1 p.m., followed by a 30% chance of thunderstorms after sunset. Gusts may reach 20 mph, raising the risk of downed limbs and scattered power outages.

By Wednesday, the threat intensifies. A 50% chance of thunderstorms could affect the region through the evening, with heavy rain possible during peak commuting hours. TXDOT urges drivers to watch for slick roads and avoid low-lying areas prone to flash flooding.
