Lansing, MI – Eagle Produce LLC has issued a recall for 224 cases of Kandy-brand whole cantaloupe due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall affects consumers in Texas, Michigan, Missouri, and other states. Retailers sold the affected products between August 13-17, marked with UPC code 4050.

Michigan state officials discovered Salmonella during routine testing. Though no illnesses have been reported, the company urges caution. Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. In rare cases, infections can spread to the bloodstream, leading to severe complications.

Eagle Produce advises consumers to discard the cantaloupe immediately. The company is working with the FDA to address the issue. Consumers can contact Eagle Produce at 1-800-627-8674 for further information or guidance. Anyone experiencing symptoms after eating the cantaloupe should contact a healthcare provider.

This recall only affects cantaloupes marked with the specified UPC and lot code. No other products are involved.
