Shreveport, Louisiana – A particularly dangerous line of severe thunderstorms is sweeping across East Texas Sunday night, with 100 mph wind gusts and scattered hail expected to impact areas as far east as Shreveport by early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 4:00 a.m. CDT Monday, June 9, for large portions of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The primary threats include 70+ mph winds, apple-sized hail, and isolated tornadoes, especially near the I-20 corridor.

Cities under threat include Dallas, Tyler, Waco, Granbury, and Texarkana, with the storm line forecast to weaken slightly as it enters Northwest Louisiana. Still, emergency officials warn that Shreveport and surrounding parishes could face damaging winds and power outages after midnight.

Travel on I-20, I-35, and I-45 could become hazardous due to sudden wind gusts and blinding rain. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, keep phones charged, and avoid travel overnight unless necessary.

This storm system impacts over 10 million residents across more than 40 counties. Additional warnings may be issued as the line progresses eastward. Stay alert overnight and monitor NOAA Weather Radio for updates.
