Idabel, Okla. – Severe thunderstorms could hammer parts of southeast Oklahoma and southwest Arkansas through 4 a.m. Monday, with damaging winds and large hail threatening overnight travel and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Choctaw, Pushmataha, and McCurtain counties in Oklahoma, as well as Lafayette and Miller counties in Arkansas. The watch was issued at 8:30 p.m. CDT and covers the period through early Monday morning.
In Oklahoma, towns including Hugo, Antlers, and Idabel are bracing for intense lightning and wind gusts over 60 mph. In Arkansas, Texarkana and Stamps may also see strong storm cells capable of producing hail up to an inch in diameter.
