Bedford County, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are renewing their call for information in an unsolved fatal hit-and-run that killed a 65-year-old bicyclist on Route 96 in Harrison Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Joseph Williams of Manns Choice was riding his bicycle north on Hyndman Road, also known as Route 96, when another vehicle allegedly struck him from behind at approximately 8:51 a.m. Aug. 19.
Investigators said the vehicle hit the rear tire of Williams’ bicycle, throwing him in a northwesterly direction. Williams came to rest in a yard near the crash scene and died from his injuries.
The driver allegedly continued north on Hyndman Road and fled the scene, police said.
Investigators are now looking for a burgundy or maroon Ford believed to have damage around the passenger-side headlight and passenger-side mirror. The crash occurred in the 10000 block of Hyndman Road, just south of Sulphur Springs Road in Harrison Township.
State police highlighted the investigation Friday as part of the agency’s “Case File Friday” effort to generate new information in unsolved cases.

Pennsylvania State Police said information leading to an arrest or helping solve an unsolved case could be eligible for a cash reward. Tip money is not funded by taxpayers.
The investigation remains active, and police continue seeking the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
